The first section is in the passato prossimo. Reflexive verbs always take "essere" as the auxiliary, and the participio must agree with the subject. b. Did they stop at the bakery? c. Did you (voi) have a good time with your cousins? We had a good time. d. He fell asleep. e. She fell asleep. f. They complained about the weather. g. Why did you (Lei) get angry? I didn’t get angry! h. Did you (tu) put on your coat?
The second section uses reflexive verbs with modal verbs, or with certain avere idioms (Avere bisogno di... Avere voglia di...). a. Do you (tu) want to wake up early? b. We have to stop at the bakery. c. We feel like relaxing. d. I want to complain. e. They need to put on their coat before going out. f. I feel like taking a shower. (not reflexive) g. I want to comb my hair. h. I need to wake up early.
The third section uses pairs of sentences to demonstrate using the same verb reflexively OR non-reflexively. If these are in the past, you must choose between essere and avere for the auxiliary. a. I’m calling Tony. b. He is called Tony. c. We washed the dishes. d. We washed ourselves. e. I put the keys in the room. f. I put on my gloves. g. We got up at 7. h. We raised our glasses. |
