8 La ottava lezione, il 24 febbraio 2010

- Giornali: Susanna la seconda ci ha portato giornali storici: Il primo uomo nello spazio, i diluvi del 1966, Kennedy assassinato, ecc. Abbiamo fatto pratica con le date.

- Warmup: Vorrebbe bere qualcosa? unit 9.

- "La casa di Essere." We reviewed these verbs which are conjugated with "essere" as the auxiliary. Can you translate into Italian:
She became famous.
He became famous.
She died.
He died.
He was born yesterday.
She wasn't born yesterday. (a saying in Italy)

- Imperfetto review. We reviewed the conjugations of imperfetto. We used some cue-cards to compose stories using imperfetto and the passato prossimo. The stories also used all'improvviso, mentre, poi.

- il corpo. We learned parts of the body (pages 215 and 216). Then we played Jeopardy with body parts.

- Parole da ricordare:
all'improvviso - suddenly
mentre - while
poi... - and then...
colpo di fulmine - love at first sight (or) a bolt of lightning

A. A self-portrait, labeling body parts. this can be in any medium. Collage, sculpture, photography, cartoon, drawing, music...
B. come up with a fun way of learning body parts, to share with the class.

3. (OPTIONAL)

4. Page 216 exercise B.

5.
(OPTIONAL) Page 216 exercise C. to hand in.

6. Read and study the rest of the list on page 215. Pay attention to the parts we did not mention in class: page 215 "La Salute e Le Malattie" and page 216 "ammalarsi" through "sano". (We'll practice some of these next week.)

7. Two weeks from now will be our last class. At the last class, everyone will have the opportunity to do a "Show-and-Tell". This can be an object, or a game you want to play, or a photo, or anything. Your presentation should be approximately five minutes long. I would prefer if you did not have to read your presentation, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't prepare it. So it would be a good idea to bring questions about any vocabulary you may need. How will you teach the new vocabulary to your fellow students? You can be as creative as you want!
