1. Move on to audio Unit 12.
2. Read "L'anello magico" from 3/4 down page 201 "Il giovane si svegliò al mattino..." to the bottom of page 201.
3. Find a simple question or sentence using each of these verbs in context. Look up a sentence in a verb book, or on wordreference, or check it with a native speaker, so that we know that we are practicing current and common usage.

4. Marina will make her presentation next week. Would anyone like to make one the week after? Our last class of this term is in two weeks: Wednesday March 2.
5. Review the imperfetto. In our book, it starts on page 196. Review the conjugation, and the uses.
Italians use the l'imperfetto when the action in the past is:
1. a repeated action in the past
(or)
2. an action in progress in the past (i.e. You can't really tell when the action ended).
(or)
3. one of these special categories: Weather, Emotion, Time, Mental state, Age, Physical condition. (and notice that all of these special categories carry a feeling of "description" rather than "action".) (mental state: hoped, believed, thought...) (age: "When I was three years old...) (physical condition: was tired, was hurt, was feeling sick, was warm, was cozy, was nice...)
