- Warm-up: Che cosa avete fatto? Cosa c'è di nuovo? (what's new?) We asked each other how the week went, and we responded with some new exclamations:

Che bella giornata! - What a beautiful day!

Per esprimere rammarico (regret), disappunto:
Peccato! - What a pity! What a shame!

Che brutta notizia! - What bad news!
Che rabbia! -How maddening! What a nuisance!
-"Ne". This little word means "of it" when talking about quantities, or more than one thing.
Quanta torta vuoi? Ne vuoi un po'? - How much cake do you want? Do you want a little of it? ("Ne" replaces the cake in this example)
-participi passati. We looked at the irregular past participles on page 127.
-Two verbs in a sentence. (an infinitive after a conjugated verb).
Preferisco camminare.
- Sono andato in palestra a correre.
- Mi piace dormire.
- Quando ho cominciato a studiare...
- Luigi ha smesso di fumare.
Mi sono abituata a parlare italiano.
Ho aiutato Mario a fare la spesa.
Cerco di fare i compiti.
Voglio andare al cinema.
- Some verbs (preferire, mi piace..., dovere, potere, volere) do not take a preposition before the following infinitive.
Some verbs (andare a, cominciare a) take the preposition "a" before the following infinitive.
- Some verbs (smettere di, sperare di, dimenticare di, cercare di (to try to) , ricordare di, imparare di...) take the preposition "di" before the following infinitive.

3. We will use the pink handout "Progetto italiano 1" next week to talk about ourselves. (What you do for a living, where you're from, how long you've studied Italian, where you're staying in Italy, why you're in Italy... The handout just has some examples of ways to form sentences when introducing yourself and describing yourself. If the pink handout doesn't make sense to you, don't worry about it. We'll look at it next time.
