-Gli argomenti (the topics): What we did in class, and more.
-Warmup: "Vorrebbe mangiare qualcosa?" (phrases from unit 7 of the CD)
- Imperfetto. We went over the homework from last week. We read a paragraph together with the imperfetto and passato prossimo.
-Futuro. Italians use the future to make plans, to make predictions, to hypothesize, to make promises, and for the "periodo ipotetico" (If... then...)
We did part C on page 231 together.
- Conditional. The conditional tense means "I would do..." The stems of the conditional tense are the same stems as the futuro stems. Since everybody has already memorized vorrei, vorrebbe... you have already been exposed to the conditional endings. Here they are again:
-ei
-esti
-ebbe
-emmo
-este
-ebbero
- Inviting... We used the vocabulary from the yellow handout 14 to invite somebody in a familiar way:
Vuoi venire a fare spese insieme? - Do you want to come to do some shopping together?
Che ne dici di fare le vacanze insieme? - What do you say to going on vacation together?
and we added a few:
Hai voglia di mangiare una pizza? - Do you want to eat a pizza?
Ti va di guardare la TV? - Do you want to watch TV?
Dove ci troviamo? - Where will we meet each other??
Sono disponibile. - I'm available.
Sono libero/a. - I'm free.
Certamente!! - Certainly!
Come vuoi! - As you like.
- Alla stazione. We did the two-way translation exercise (last week's handout 13) together.
- "Alla fiera dell Est". David sang this song by Angelo Branduardi

volerci - to take
Ci vuole un'ora per andare a Pisa. - It takes one hour to go to Pisa.
