Livello Due, lunedi, il cinque novembre, Settima Lezione

Level Two, Monday, November 5, Lesson 7

-Compiti (homework, listed in order of importance)

1. Handout (yellow) - "The partitive..." (and when you don't need to use it), and "Indirect object pronouns". Do both sides. clicca qui for the answers to both sides

2. Practice Set 77. Pronouns: both direct and indirect. Read carefully: some verbs you might not expect (like telefonare) take a + an indirect object in Italian. Read the section, and do the exercises.

3. Handout (green) - "1.Pronto..." (click here to see which handout I'm talking about) These are sentences based on the Caffè Sant'Eustachio dialogue: "...un sacco di tempo...". I would like you to be able to use as many of these phrases as you can. You can memorize them by practicing them out loud.

4. Handout (ivory) - "Vocabolario preliminare..." Read the little dialogue at the top that starts "Ciao, Rita!..." and familiarize yourself with the vocabulary list. Do any of the exercises which interest you, but we might not have time to review them in class. Two weeks from now, we'll be saying what we like to do, using the expression "Mi piace..." (I like...).

5. Practice Set 46: "Quanto and Quale as adjectives". When they are adjectives, they have to agree with the noun. Quale has two forms (quale, quali) and quanto has four forms (quanto, quanta, quante, quanti). Read the section, and do the exercises.

6. Practice Set 57: Prepositions. Di, a, da, in, su. Some are simple prepositions, and some are combined with the article (as we practiced at the end of class: "Do il resto allo studente. Prendo il resto dallo studente.") Read the section, and do the exercises.

7. (optional) Write an original sentence for each of these: appena (just ), già (already), di solito (usually), adesso (now). Già and appena come right after the verb, or between the verb and the past participle. Adesso and di solito can come either immediately following the verb, or at the beginning or at the end of the sentence. See Practice Set 51 for examples.

8. (optional) If you want to refresh your memory on Da quanto tempo...? (How long have you been...?) you could re-do Practice Set 53. It also has practice for tra and fra, with time. Fa (ago) was introduced in Practice Set 83.
