-Compiti (homework)
1. Handout (gold) - "Verbi". Do both sides. Clicca qui for side 1. Check your email for side 2 (if you weren't in class). On the side that starts "Give the correct form of the verb, and translate the sentences into English..." A lot of these are idiomatic expressions that you haven't had, so you can just fill in the verb form, and read the translations in the answers.
2. Memorize all the irregular verbs we've learned: essere, avere, stare, fare, andare, dare, venire. Write out their conjugations (over and over). The new ones this week are dare, andare, venire.
3. Memorize the meaning of the question words: dove, come, che cosa, chi, perche, quale, quando, quanto (page 96).
4. Handout (blue) -Both sides - side one: "To ask the price of". side two: "Parole da ricordare: l'orario". Practice both sides. Both handouts have audio: click on the line above.

7. Question words: practice set 26. (Don't do part A or part B if it is too confusing. Part A and Part B are more complicated ways of asking for something.) If you have time, do the dialogue and comprehension activity on pp. 95,96.

-What we did in class:
-pronunciation. la trattoria, la farmacia, l'osteria, la gelateria, la panetteria, la fattoria. In every case, the stress is on the penultimate syllable: trattoria

-regular -are verbs. By "regular", we mean that they are all conjugated in this pattern:
For -are verbs: (example) parlare (to speak).
The stem is parl- and the ending is -are
Take the stem, and change the endings for each person, in this pattern:
- -o___________-iamo
- -i___________-ate
- -a___________-ano
So, for example, the regular -are verb parlare (to speak) is conjugated:

-Verbi: We introduced three new irregular verbs. By "irregular", we mean that they are not conjugated following the pattern of all the regular -are verbs. Either the stem changes, or the endings do not follow the pattern precisely. All irregular verbs have to be memorized.
andare (to go) vado, vai, va. andiamo, andate, vanno.
venire (to come) vengo, vieni, viene. veniamo, venite, vengono.
dare (to give) do, dai, da. diamo, date, danno.
