mille euro =1.000
due milla euro = €2.000
un milione euro = €1.000.000
due milioni euro = €2.000.000

-Indirect object pronouns, (say out loud, turn off your brain).

Dico a Giorgio. Gli dico.
Voglio bene a te. Ti voglio bene.
Domando a voi. Vi domando.
Chiedo alle ragazze. Gli chiedo.

-Stare per... This is an idiomatic expression: "Stare" per... plus the infinitive, which means "to be about to do something."
Stiamo per uscire. - We are about to go out.
Sta per chiudere. - It's about to close.

-Irregular past participles: See fifth box on the white handout "Al Bar".

-"Il mondo del calcio" We read this article.

-Negative expressions:
...ancora...? -
...non più. -
Stai ancora mangiando? - Are you still eating?
Sì, sto ancora mangiando. - Yes, I'm still eating.
Non, non mangio più. Non sto più mangiando. - No, I'm not eating anymore.
Suoni ancora la chitarra? - Do you still play guitar?
Sì, la suono ancora. - Yes, I still play it.
Non, non la suono più. - No, I don't play it anymore.

If you have a verb tense which is a single word (such as the present, or the future, or the imperfetto), you can put an adverb like "mai", "ancora", or "più" right after the verb:
Non vado mai al cinema. - I never go to the cinema.
Îf it's a two-word verb tense, such as present progressive or passato prossimo, you can put these adverbs between the auxiliary and the main verb:
Non ho fatto mai una torta. - I have never made a cake.

-Imperfetto:
We practiced getting the emphasis right on these tricky verbs. Look for the dots on page 237.
We went over how imperfetto is used for:
1. an action in the past which is habitual or repeated.
2. an action in a moment which does not have a defined endpoint.
3. two contemporaneous ongoing actions.
4. an action which is interrupted.

See lavendar handout for the difference in meaning of sapere and conscere in the passato prossimo and the imperfetto.

-Mad-Libs: Passato prossimo, or imperfetto? We made up stories by filling in the blanks and translating into Italian (click here).

- Parole da ricordare
pieno - full
vuoto - empty
mezzo - half
