Mai and non mai in the passato prossimo:
Avete mai scalato Mount Hood? - Have you ever climbed Mount Hood?
No, non l'abbiamo mai scalato. - No, we've never climbed it. (Notice the pronoun comes before the auxiliary verb, and the "mai" comes between the auxiliary and the past participle)
Si, l'abbiamo scalato una volta. - Yes, we climbed it one time.

Siete mai stati in Sardegna? - Have you ever been to Sardegna?
No, non ci siamo mai stati. - No, we've never been there.
Sì, ci siamo andati due anni fa. - Yes, we went there two years ago.
Mai in the present tense:
Prendi mai il treno? - Do you ever take the train?
No. Non lo prendo mai. - No. I never take it.
Sì, lo prendo qualche volta. - Yes, I take it sometimes.

lasciare - to leave somebody or something behind
andare via - to get going, to get out, to go away

We reviewed and practiced present tense and passato prossimo of dire, fare, scrive, correggere, leggere. Their past participles are detto, fatto, scritto, corretto, letto.

1. Imperative. Finish the translations on the back of the two-page yellow handout. The exercises start with: "Imperative (translate); Noi Let's sing!"

Remember: when the imperative forms of da’, fa’, sta’, va’, and di’ are used with a pronoun, the initial consonant of the pronoun is doubled (except for gli)  Examples: Dimmi di si!     Vacci!    Fallo ora!

3. venire a, riuscire a, aspettare, cercare, mai, non mai, dire, fare, scrivere, correggere, leggere, lasciare, uscire, andare via, partire. Translate these sentences into Italian. Some information on the use of the verbs can be found on the lavendar handout, the white handout "Appendix", and the white handout "Al Bar". This is also an exercise in using object pronouns: if there is an infinitive and an object pronoun in the sentence, drop the final "e" and attach the object pronoun to the infinitive. trovare + ci = trovarci. Remember: "ci" can mean "there" or "us".
